Editorial Staff


Publishing Editor
Carolina Gonzalez Atienza
Carolina Gonzalez Atienza is a graduate student pursuing an M.S. in Communication and Media. Gonzalez is currently beginning her fourth semester as part of the iPulse editorial staff. This semester, she will be serving as publishing editor. Not only does Gonzalez contribute to the College of International Communication, this is her second year working as a photographer for Lynn University’s Office of Marketing and Communication. She has had either photographs and or articles featured in the Boca Raton News, the Lynn Magazine, MyLynn, Boca Magazine, Seventeen Magazine and the Lynn Web site. Upon the completion of her graduate degree, Gonzalez aspires to continue to work professionally as a photographer or editor.

Editor in Chief
Carlos Sanz
Carlos Sanz is an international student from Barcelona, Spain. Sanz is a junior majoring in advertising and public relations with a minor in multimedia journalism. Sanz achieved the honor roll for four consecutive years during high school. Throughout this time, Sanz also had the opportunity to travel across Europe playing in international tennis tournaments. He is very excited to serve alongside Patricia Lammle as an editor-in-chief once more this spring semester. Sanz is a current member of Lynn University’s men’s tennis team and is a student in the honor’s program. Sanz also is listed on the Dean’s List. Upon graduation, Sanzaspires  to pursue a graduate degree in the field of communication and media.

Patricia Lammle
Patricia Lammle is a sophomore majoring in multimedia journalism with a dual minor in both advertising and public relations. With a culturally eclectic background, being half German and half Spanish, she has lived in Nicaragua most of her life. Consequently, she is fluent in Spanish, English and German. Lammle has always been driven and responsible. She received for two consecutive years the Presidential Academic Achievement Award during high school. Currently, not only is she part of Lynn’s honors program, but she is also on the dean’s list. Furthermore, she is involved in various extracurricular activities. She is a SHIELD mentor, and part of the National Broadcast Society, OLAS and the Newman Club. Lammle aspires to b e an editor in a magazine such as National Geographic.

Managing Editor
Mike Slavin
Michael Slavin is a sophomore majoring in multimedia journalism with a minor in English. He is originally from New York. Slavin attended Cardinal Newman High School and he was in the drama and literacy club for two years. He was also an officer in the literary club for one year during high school. Slavin has traveled the world extensively and has been to Italy, Greece, Australia, Turkey, Bahamas and throughout the United States. While he was in England and Paris, he attended a study abroad tour through Cambridge University. He also studied film in Australia for six weeks, through Boston University. While in Australia, Slavin attended the Sydney film festival. Slavinhopes to spend a semester at sea this summer.

Assistant Editor
Brittany Hutchinson
Brittany Hutchinson is a senior majoring in mass communication with a double specialization in advertising/ public relations and multimedia journalism. Her previous roles with the iPulse include: staff writer, advertising manager and assistant copy editor. She is excited to join the iPulse staff once again. Outside of the paper, Hutchinson belongs to the sorority Sigma SigmaSigma and serves as a residential assistant on campus. Upon graduation in May, she plans to pursue a career in advertising or journalism. Her hope is to one-day work for a charity or organization dedicated to children.  A native Floridian, Hutchinson spends her free time traveling, taking pictures and spending time with friends and family. She also enjoys attending baseball games.

iPulse Intern
Katie Black
Katie Black was born in Charlotte and is a senior majoring in multimedia journalism with a minor in criminology. Black won several awards for small writing contests in North Carolina. The class, Introduction to Journalism, gave Black a chance to write for the iPulse. Her internship last summer gave her a chance to write articles for a real newspaper, and particpate in a real newsroom.

Kelsey Cesar
Born a in Cleveland Kelsey Cesar is majoring in communication with a very strong focus on journalism. She has interned at Broadcast Media Ideas, where she learned about video editing, producing videos, scripting and interviewing. During her senior year of high school, she started changing the graphics, layout and content, allowing it to win a certificate from Columbia University.

Michael Davis
Mike Davis is from Richmond and is a junior currently majoring in communication with a specialization in public relations and advertising. Davis is also getting a minor in international relations. This is his first semester with the iPulse. Davis works in Student Administrative Services where he works at the front desk. During his summers off from classes, Davis is a nature director at westview on the james.

Jennifer Rodrigues
Jennifer Rodrigues is a sophomore studying multimedia journalism. She is starting her second full semester as an iPulse staff member. She is also a member of many other clubs and organizations on campus and will be serving as the Student Government Association Vice President for this academic year.  Rodrigues aspires to work as a reporter for an entertainment magazine or entertainment news show.

Monica Mahajan
Monica Mahajan, freshman, is majoring in broadcast journalism. She is originally from Ohio, but came to Florida to escape the cold weather and to pursue a great education. She looks forward to working as part of the iPulse staff.  Furthermore, Mahajan hopes that her work as part of the iPulse this semester will further her education in broadcasting.

Broadcast
Rickey Freebery
Richard Freebery is a sophomore multimedia journalism major in the College of International Communication. As a freshman, Freebery participated in Witness to History: Presidential Inauguration 2009 in Washington and interviewed Bush Press Secretary Dana Perino on C-Span. His team won the ‘09 National Broadcasting Society TV Commercial Regional Award for their Habitat for Humanity spot. This year Freebery earned NFL media credentials for Superbowl XLIV Media Day in Miami. Passionate about broadcasting from a young age, Freebery was an anchor, producer and teaching assistant for his high school’s daily television show. Rotaract Club membership helps fulfill Freebery’s concern for others.

Arianna Shaffer
Arianna Shaffer is a sophomore majoring in multimedia journalism and minoring in fashion.  Aspiring to be a news anchor and a meteorologist, she is currently interning for the vice president of Ed Hardy accessories, while planning to intern at a local news station over the summer.  Shaffer is currently working for the iPulse as one of the broadcasting news anchors, and hopes to gain experience for her future job as a news anchor and meteorologist. She has already accomplished making two news segments titled ‘The Freshman 15’ and ‘Safe Sex’ for her multimedia journalism class, and plans on creating many more news segments. When she is not busy with the iPulse, school or interning she can be found at The Boys and Girls Club tutoring children in math and reading.

Charles Phillips
Charles Phillips is a senior majoring in photography. Phillips is not only known for his photography, but for his affiliation with different clubs and organizations across campus. When Phillips graduates he hopes to become a professional photographer for a major magazine, such as the National Geographic.

Social Media Editor
Joshua Gordon
Joshua Gordon is a sophomore who is studying in communication, media and politics. He lives with his mom and sister in Long Island. This semester and throughout the year, he has been in various clubs and organizations.  Gordon is a Shield Mentor for the de Hoernle Residence Hall, an active member in Knights Activities Team and Knights in the Community.  He is also trying to get involved in the Jewish organization Chabad. Also, he runs Friday Night Flixs. However, in his free time he enjoys virtual agriculture. Before graduating Gordon hopes to do a semester in Austrailia. When Gordon graduates Lynn he has high hopes of becoming a TV Producer living in Los Angeles.

Jay Eisen
g in graphic design with a minor in business. He is originally from Westchester, New York. Eisen has always been strongly involved in athletics, for example, participating in gymnastics since age three. In 2008, he was ranked thirteenth in the nation out of 2000 competitors. Retired now due to injuries, he finds himself pursuing a new love and obsession for computers. He currently works part time for the Information Technology Support Service Desk located on the third floor of E. M. Lynn Residence hall. When he is not working with IT or doing homework, he is coaching at a local cheer gym (Boca Extreme), where he teaches young eager athletes the tricks of the trade.

Kerri Salter
Kerri Salter is a freshman at Lynn University and is returning for her second semester on the iPulse staff. She is excited about returning to the staff for a second term and learning how to edit articles using AP style and continuing working as web support.This semester, she is hoping to do more with the paper as a writer. Salter discovered her love for writing at a young age, but found newspaper writing at the start of high school and continued it until she graduated in 2009. Her goal one day is to get to New York for her graduate degree and to hopefully work either in New York City or Long Island. One of her inspirations as a writer would be her grandfather, Charles J. Cowan.

Advertising Manager
Meri Gerasimovska
MeriGerasimovska is an international student from Macedonia who previously attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Gerasimovska is now a senior at Lynn, majoring in advertising and public relations. Although born in Macedonia, Gerasimovska has spent 12 years of her life in Ukraine, where she attended an American school, and had the opportunity to learn the Russian language. By the end of her high school years, Gerasimovska has captained her school’s volleyball and basketball teams, traveled Europe for various competitions and has been admitted to the National Honor Society. Having served as Advertising Manager for the iPusle team, upon graduating Gerasimovskawishs to pursue a career in Advertising/PR, and follow a dream in acting.
